Greeting Card Ministry Continues

Although we will no longer be sending greeting cards to Afghanistan, our card ministry continues. We will be sending cards to active-duty soldiers in Kuwait, to veterans in the VA Hospital in Salisbury, and to the residents of Abernethy Laurels. Cards will be available to pick up from the benches in front of the church on Saturday, October 23, and Sunday, October 24. There will be 140 cards labeled for Abernethy Laurels, 75 cards for the VA Hospital, and the remaining cards for the soldiers in Kuwait. You can also make or buy your own cards for the active-duty soldiers. No Get Well cards are needed, only Thinking of You, Thank Your for Your Service, or Happy Thanksgiving cards are appropriate for the active-duty soldiers. Sign your name but do not include your address. Return your cards to the containers on the benches in front of the church on Saturday, November 6 or Sunday, November 7. Thank you supporting this ministry!

Special Mission for Foster Children

This year, we will be collecting gloves and mittens and books for foster children aged 5 and up. Coloring and activity books such as crossword and word search books are also welcome. These items may be placed in the containers in the narthex. The Loaves & Stitches group will provide knitted and crocheted hats and will assemble and label packages for each child.

Operation Christmas Child

Once again, Rehobeth will be participating in the Operation Christmas Child mission, which distributes shoeboxes filled with gifts to needy children around the world. Brochures that describe the mission, include gift suggestions, and explain how to pack and label a shoebox are available in the narthex. You may purchase plastic shoeboxes from any of the dollar stores or Hobby Lobby, or use a cardboard shoebox of your own. Filled, labeled shoeboxes with the required donation amount enclosed are due no later than Sunday, November 14, when they will be taken to the processing center for shipment.
