Mission & Ministry Opportunities
Celebrating 10 Years – Rehobeth's card ministry to our troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait is 10 years old! Thanks to everyone who has supported our troops through this program. Make a commitment to write a card or two each week this year for our wounded troops in Afghanistan and active troops in Kuwait. Let the men and women in the military hospital in Afghanistan and military base in Kuwait know how much you appreciate their service. Indicate on the envelope what type of card is enclosed ("Get Well," "Thank You," or "Thinking of You"). Remember, to comply with military security requirements, do not include your return address. Place your cards in the red, white, and blue box located in the narthex. Thank you for supporting our troops!
" Christmas with Dignity" Store - The Gabriel's Heroes "Christmas with Dignity" store will be open on Saturday, December 12, from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. This is an outreach to those families in the Sherrills Ford community who need help providing gifts for their children. Recipients will NOT be foster children, as the Angel Tree program takes care of those children. Rather, these are families who have been selected in partnership with school guidance counselors to apply for assistance. Those selected will be given appointment times to come shop at the Connor Recreation Center. They will be able to purchase new toys and other items for their children at a fraction of the cost. Additionally, each family will receive a feast box of non-perishable foods. The need is greater than ever in our community. If you would like to be a part of this special program, whether as a volunteer or to donate to the cause, please contact Natalie.
If you are interested in donating items, see our Wish List for ideas.
Walking Program - Everyone is invited to come walk at Rehobeth's Connor Recreation Center on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:30 AM. If the weather is good, we will walk the track; otherwise, we will walk inside the Rec Center. Come join us for some good exercise and fellowship!
Progressive Dinner - Join the Family Life Council for a fun-filled progressive dinner on Saturday, October 24 starting at 5:00 PM. This year, we'll visit two host homes. We'll start with a hearty appetizer dinner, then move on to scrumptious desserts. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to your host home.
If you are interested in participating, please sign the sheet in the narthex.
Ladies'Bible Study - Do you feel overwhelmed, intimidated, insufficient, too old, too young, too afraid, or too weak? God can use our weaknesses to unlock His strength. Join us to discover how to open our eyes to a brand new perspective on yourself, your God, and Gideon. "Gideon—Your Weakness—God's Strength" is a 7-week Bible study beginning Wednesday, October 28, at 9:30 AM in the church parlor. Please contact the church office if you are interested in this exciting new study.
Stop Human Trafficking- The United Methodist Men are sponsoring a special guest speaker on Sunday, October 11, at 7:00 PM. Bo Quickel is part of an activist group of truckers trying to end human trafficking and sexual slavery at truck stops and elsewhere. Unfortunately North Carolina, with its coastal waterways and Interstate highway system, is one of the main states where this occurs. All men and women in the congregation are invited to attend this informative program.
Second Chance Prom - Gabriel's Heroes, of Rehobeth's Faith Leading Youth, will sponsor a Second Chance Prom on Saturday, October 17, from 7:00 to 11:00 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. This event is open to the community, and entertainment will be provided by Jeff Davis, who will perform songs from the 50s and 60s. Tickets will go on sale September 1. The cost is $15 per adult, and all proceeds will support the Christmas With Dignity program.
Fall Festival - Rehobeth's annual Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 31, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. All children and their families are invited. Highlights include games, inflatables, mini-train rides, hay rides, and a hot dog supper. The event is free and is open to the community.
FLY Meetings - Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held from 5 to 7 PM in the fellowship hall. Upcoming meetings:
