Cards and Candy for Our Troops – As part of our ongoing mission, we’ll be collecting cards and candy for our wounded troops in Afghanistan and to those on active duty in Kuwait. We’ve been told that the “fun size” chocolate candies are always a big hit. Please deposit your candy donations in the container in the narthex by October 19. Just a reminder, when sending cards, please write on the outside of the envelope what type of card it is (“get well,” “thinking of you,” “Happy Halloween”) and drop them in the red, white, and blue box in the narthex.
Remember, for your safety and security, do not write your return address on the envelope. You may, however, sign your name on the inside of the card.
Puppet Ministry - The puppet ministry interest meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 26 at 4PM in the fellowship hall. Fourth graders through adults are welcome to attend. We will be starting to plan for the puppet skit in our White Gifts Service. No experience necessary!
Barbecue Is Coming and We Need Your Help! - The big day is Saturday, November 8, but lots of preparation is done beforehand. Please mark your calendars now to help out with the following:
Washing dishes on Monday, November 3 starting at 8:00 AM
Making slaw on Thursday, November 6 starting around noon
Peeling and cooking sweet potatoes on Friday, November 7 starting at 8:00 AM.
Also, review the insert in the bulletin. If you can help with any of the items listed, please fill out the sheet and place it in the offering plate or the box in the narthes.
Operation Christmas Child – Once again Rehobeth will be participating in the Operation Christmas Child mission, where shoeboxes filled with gifts are distributed to needy children around the world. Brochures that explain how to pack a shoebox, have gift suggestions, and include an envelope for donor information are inserted with your bulletin today. Operation Christmas Child asks that a $7 donation be included to help with the shipping costs.
If you prefer to make this donation online, you can print out the label to attach to the shoebox. Once the shoebox has reached its destination, the label will be scanned and you will be notified by email where your shoebox was received.
Empty shoeboxes are available in the narthex. Feel free to take as many as you would like to fill. You may also fill plastic shoeboxes that can be purchased at discount stores if you prefer. (Please do NOT fill “over-sized” boxes.) ALL shoe boxes need to be returned to Rehobeth by November 9. (Please disregard the dates printed on the brochure.) Thank you.
Study Group Starting – The pastor will be leading a study/discussion group on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings focusing on Adam Hamilton’s book, “Why? Making Sense of God’s Will.” The Study will be offered on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM (November 11, 18, 25, & December 2) and Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM (November. 12, 19, 26, & December 3.) Each week these sessions will be identical. So you may attend whichever session is most convenient for you. If you are interested in participating, the sign-up sheet is in the narthex or you may call the church office. The book costs $8.
Fall Festival - Our Fall Festival is Saturday, October 25, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. We need volunteers to make cupcakes with no icing, cookies and/or brownies, cakes for the cake walk, and folks to bring their decorated Trunk or Treat vehicles to pass out candy starting at 6 PM. See the sign-up sheet in the narthex if you can help with this event in any way!
"True Love Waits" Ceremony - Our 8th-12th graders that are in the midst of their small group study, “True Love Project,” will make their commitment to Christ in their pursuit of purity. All are invited to the "True Love Waits" ceremony on Sunday, November 2, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary to support and celebrate our youth as they make this commitment. A reception will be held afterwards in the fellowship hall.
Rehobeth Barbecue - The famous annual Rehobeth Church Barbecue is just around the corner. We hope that everyone will come to eat! The dinner will include barbecue, sweet potatoes, slaw, apple sauce, rolls, pickles, dessert, tea, and coffee. Remember, you can eat here at the church (family style) or take a plate or sandwich home from our “take-out” room. We will start serving at 11:00 AM and serve meals throughout the day. The cost for “dining in” is $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. The cost for “take-out” is $9 per plate and $4 per sandwich. (Please note that sandwiches are not available for “dine-in” and children’s plates are not available for “take-out.”) Everyone is invited!
