Mission & Ministry Opportunities
Celebrating 10 Years – Rehobeth's card ministry to our troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait is 10 years old! Thanks to everyone who has supported our troops through this program. Make a commitment to write a card or two each week this year for our wounded troops in Afghanistan and active troops in Kuwait. Let the men and women in the military hospital in Afghanistan and military base in Kuwait know how much you appreciate their service. Indicate on the envelope what type of card is enclosed ("Get Well," "Thank You," or "Thinking of You"). Remember, to comply with military security requirements, do not include your return address. Place your cards in the red, white, and blue box located in the narthex. Thank you for supporting our troops!
Collecting School Supplies - The Missions Committee invites everyone to donate school supplies for the children at Sherrills Ford Elementary School now through September 6. The collection container and lists of suggested items are in the narthex by the bulletin board.
Walking Program - Everyone is invited to come walk at Rehobeth's Connor Recreation Center on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:30 AM. If the weather is good, we will walk the track; otherwise, we will walk inside the Rec Center. Come join us for some good exercise and fellowship!
Susanna Wesley Circle - There will be called meeting of the members of the Susanna Wesley Circle on Monday, August 31, at 1:30 PM in the church parlor. The purpose of the meeting is to receive a presentation by those members who were charged with researching and preparing a recommendation for using the bequest from the Gabriel estate.
Promotion Sunday - We will be celebrating Promotion Sunday on September 6. All of our young Sunday School students will be promoted to the next grade. Please note that students in the second, fourth, and sixth grades will be changing classrooms. Additionally, during the worship services that day, our second graders will be receiving Bibles of their very own. If you have a child who will be starting second grade this school year, please contact the church office. We don't want to leave anyone out!
Fifth Sunday - Rehobeth's next Fifth Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, August 30, beginning at 9:45 AM in the fellowship hall. The celebration will feature a Missions Fair. There will be a number of tables set up around the perimeter of the fellowship hall, highlighting the various missions and ministries of Rehobeth Church. Feel free to visit each table and talk with the folks about the important work they do in the name of the Lord as part of that particular mission or ministry. We will have breakfast items available as well as juices and coffee. We hope to see you there!
Second Chance Prom - Gabriel's Heroes, of Rehobeth's Faith Leading Youth, will sponsor a Second Chance Prom on Saturday, October 17, from 7:00 to 11:00 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. This event is open to the community, and entertainment will be provided by Jeff Davis, who will perform songs from the 50s and 60s. Tickets will go on sale September 1. The cost is $15 per adult, and all proceeds will support the Christmas With Dignity program.
Fall Festival - Rehobeth's annual Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 31, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Connor Recreation Center. All children and their families are invited. Highlights include games, inflatables, mini-train rides, hay rides, and a hot dog supper. The event is free and is open to the community.
