Valentine Candy Valentine Cards and Candy for Our Troops: As part of our ongoing card ministry to our wounded troops in Afghanistan and our active-duty troops in Kuwait, we will be collecting Valentine cards and candy (the "fun size" candy bars are preferred). Our servicemen and -women love receiving cards to brighten their day and remind them that folks back home are thinking about and praying for them! Holidays are especially difficult for our troops, so please help us with this special drive. Place candy in the blue container in the narthex. When writing out Valentine' or other cards, be sure to write the type of card on the envelope, such as "Valentinel" or "Thinking of You." Remember, do not include a return address. Simply drop your cards in the red, white, and blue box in the narthex. Valetine cards and candy are due by Sunday, January 29. Thank you for supporting the men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect us.
ECCCM New ECCCM Work Schedule for 2017! In an effort to increase efficiency, ECCCM has changed their church volunteer system. Instead of a church taking one week a year, the churches are being assigned one day a month. Rehobeth has been assigned the second Thursday of each month. Hours of operation are 8 AM to 5 PM, but you do not need to commit to the full day. Come volunteer for the hours that are convenient for you. Volunteer opportunities include: Bagging food for distribution, stocking shelves, filling client orders at the drive-through door, sorting donations. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign the list in the narthex.
Food Help Us Grow a "Food Tree": We appreciate everyone's generosity during the Christmas season in helping to provide food, clothes, and gifts to those in need. But even though the holidays are over, there is still a great need for food for the low-income and homeless folks in our area. We are therefore taking the tree form we used for our beautiful poinsettia tree and using it to make a food tree. During the month of January, please bring non-perishable food items each week and place them on the tree in the narthex. At the end of the month, all the food we've collected will be donated to ECCCM for distribution to Catawba County's needy. So let's make our "tree" bloom again - not with poinsettias, but with food for those in need.
