Mission & Ministry Opportunities

Remember Our Troops Cards for Our Troops – Make a commitment to write a card or two each week this year for our wounded troops in Afghanistan and active troops in Kuwait. Let the men and women in the military hospital in Afghanistan and military base in Kuwait know how much you appreciate their service. Indicate on the envelope what type of card is enclosed ("Get Well," "Thank You," or "Thinking of You"). Remember, to comply with military security requirements, do not include your return address. Place your cards in the red, white, and blue box located in the narthex. Thank you for supporting our troops!

ECCCM Rehobeth's Turn to Volunteer at ECCCM - Each year, Rehobeth helps out at the Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry (ECCCM), located in Newton. This year, our dates to help are May 18, 19, 20, and 21. There will be two shifts each day: mornings from 8:30 AM to noon and afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. If you are willing to help with sorting clothes, bagging groceries, and other tasks, please sign up for a day and shift that suits your schedule. Our goal is to have at least two volunteers per shift per day.

Gabriel Gabriel's Heroes - FLY will be starting some new local mission outreach projects under the name "Gabriel's Heroes" in memory of the Gabriel family, who left a generous financial gift for Rehobeth's youth ministry.

We are starting now to collect prom and special occasion dresses and accessories for The King's Daughter, a prom dress closet that will open early spring 2016 for girls who cannot afford prom dresses. We will continue to collect dresses throughout the year. Contact Natalie if you'd like to donate a dress.

Graduation Graduates to be Honored - During the worship services on May 31, we will be honoring our high school and college graduates. If you know of a church member who is an upcoming graduate or who graduated in December 2014, please contact the church office as soon as possible. We don't want to leave anyone out! We would also like to have a small photograph of the graduate for the special bulletin board we are preparing. Please provide photographs by May 24. And be sure to let us know from which school the students are graduating whether they will be continuing their education.

Events

Golf Annual ColeStrong/Relay for Life Golf Tournament - Rehobeth's "Pairs & Spares" Sunday School class is sponsoring the third annual "ColeStrong/Relay for Life" Golf Tournament at Glen Oaks in Maiden, NC, on Monday, May 18. This fundraising event is named in honor of our own Cole Frye, a young man who showed such fortitude, spirit, and faith during his ordeal with cancer. We are pleased to report that Cole's latest scans were completely clear and showed no signs of cancer!

This year, the proceeds of the tournament will be equally divided between the American Cancer Society and Ashley Wagner, an 8th grade student at Mill Creek Middle School who has acute T-Cell leukemia. Ashley is currently undergoing a course of treatment at Levine Children's Hospital which will span approximately two years.

If you are interested in learning more about the tournament, please call the church office.
