Mission & Ministry Opportunities
Cards for Our Troops – For more than 10 years, Rehobeth has been sending cards to our wounded troops in Afghanistan and active troops in Kuwait. Make a commitment to write a card or two each week to let the men and women in the military hospital in Afghanistan and military base in Kuwait know how much you appreciate their service. Indicate on the envelope what type of card is enclosed ("Get Well," "Thank You," or "Thinking of You"). Remember, to comply with military security requirements, do not include your return address. Place your cards in the red, white, and blue box located in the narthex. Thank you for supporting our troops!
Catawba Regional Hospice Wish List - Rehobeth Church has a very special relationship with Catawba Regional Hospice. As one of our ongoing missions, we collect certain items that help the patients and their families. Right now there is a need for the following items:
Razors & shaving cream
Snacks for bereavement baskets such as individual packages of chips, crackers, and granola bars
Pantry items such as spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, soups, breakfast items, applesauce, & puddings
Coupons for nutritional drinks such as Boost
For a more complete list of needs, please see the flyer posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. Items may be placed in the basket labeled “Hospice Supplies" on the side table in the narthex.
Join the Susanna Wesley Circle for an Afternoon at ECCCM - On Monday, August 1, the Susanna Wesley Circle will spend the afternoon helping at the Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, and we invite the congregation to join us. Men, women, young people—all are welcome to help sort clothes, bag canned good and produce, and serve customers or work in the thrift store. So tie on your athletic shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and come join us for a time of fellowship, friendship, and helping others. Although you can come and leave whenever you wish, you are welcome to join the circle for a light lunch at 11:15 AM at the church, then join us on the church van about 12:15 for the ride to Newton. If the van fills, we can carpool. Please contact the church office if you plan to participate. We will be glad to have you and you will be glad you came!
Serving at The Corner Table - Rehobeth will be serving lunch at The Corner Table, a local soup kitchen, on Thursday, August 4, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. We need 10 to 12 volunteers to help that day. If you are interested in helping, please contact the church office.
Church Conference - After several years of arduous work and incredible congregational support, our Family Life Center project, both in its construction detail and financial plan, has been unanimously approved by the District Committee on Church Location and Building and the final step is upon us. Dr. Kerr hase been authorized by our District Superintendent, Angela Pleasants, to conduct a Church Conference on Sunday, July 31 at 12:15 PM following the 10:45 AM worship service for the sole purpose of voting on a resolution to facilitate the beginning of construction of the new facility. It is important for each member of the church to make every effort to be present for this important final vote as we equip the church for present and future ministry,
