Mission & Ministry Opportunities

Remember Our Troops Cards for Our Troops – Make a commitment to write a card or two each week this year for our wounded troops in Afghanistan and active troops in Kuwait. Let the men and women in the military hospital in Afghanistan and military base in Kuwait know how much you appreciate their service. Indicate on the envelope what type of card is enclosed ("Get Well," "Thank You," or "Thinking of You"). Remember, to comply with military security requirements, do not include your return address. Place your cards in the red, white, and blue box located in the narthex. Thank you for supporting our troops!
Backpacks for Kids Backpacks for Kids Program - During the month of April, the Mae Howard Circle is sponsoring a special food drive to support "Backpacks for Kids" at Catawba Elementary School. This program helps children in need by supplying them with extra food over the weekends. Please bring in food items that are easy for children to take home in their backpacks and prepare at home. Suggestions include peanut butter crackers, granola bars, single-serving fruit cups, soups, ramen noodles, instant oatmeal or grits, beef-a-roni, spaghetti-o's, etc. Place your items in the container in the narthex. Thank you for your support!

Give Away for Good "Give Away for Good" Start your spring cleaning and donate any items you no longer need to our "Give Away for Good" event (formerly known as the "Garage Giveaway"). The "Give Away for Good" event will be held in April, but you will have several opportunities to drop off items at the Connor Recreation Center. If your items are too big for you to bring, please sign the list in the narthex and our United Methodist Men will pick them up from your home.

The final date to drop-off items at the Connor Recreation Center is Wednesday, April 22, from 5 to 7 PM.
Walking Let's Get Moving! - Would you like to get stronger, move better, drop a few pounds, protect your joints - all while enjoying the company of others? If so, meet at the Connor Recreation Center on Tuesdays beginning April 21 at 5:30 PM for a 6-week walking program. (We will meet in the fellowship hall in case of rain.) Hopefully, after six weeks, we will be motivated to continue!

This program is sponsored by your Wellness Committee.
Mother's Day Mother's Day Bulletin - Our Faith Leading Youth (FLY) group is planning a special Mother's Day insert for the bulletin on Sunday, May 10. As has been our custom, you may place the name of a special lady on the "In honor of" or "In memory of" lists. Sign-up sheets are located on the side table in the narthex. A $1.00 donation per name would be appreciated. All proceeds will help fund the missions and ministries of our Faith Leading Youth.

Cemetery Helping Those Who Grieve - Grief may be one of life's most challenging and difficult transitions. It affects every person's being in different ways - body, mind, heart, and spirit. The faith community has the honor of walking alongside one another in their grief journey. To support one another, it is important to have a working knowledge of the grief process as well as an understanding of how best to minister during this critical time. On Sunday, April 19, Rev. Sandi Hood, Catawba Regional Hospice Bereavement Counselor, will join us as we talk about grief and offer ideas on how best to serve those in mourning. We will meet at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary.
Homecoming Homecoming - Our annual Homecoming celebration will be Sunday, May 3. Our guest speak will be Rev. Phil DeBerry, who was Rehobeth's minister from 1989 to 1998. Phil will be preaching at both the 8:45 and 10:45 AM services. Following the 10:45 AM service, he and his wife, Nancy, will join us for a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall. So bring along a couple of your favorite dishes to share at this special time of fellowship and reminiscence.
Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School - Vacation Bible School will be held June 21 through 26 this year. The theme is Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was a Kid. Mark your calendars, and check back for more details!
